Litterbug

Reykjavik Iceland

At the docks they were painting one of the fishing boats.  I guess this guy was on a break and thought it was a good idea the flick his cigarette.

Every once in awhile I get to photograph somebody out of the ordinary.

It’s not a bronze

Tone mapping in CS5 can take an ordinary photo and make it a bit more interesting.

Having fun

It’s so much easier to shoot a model when she is having as much fun as you are.

Anybody need head shots?

Use a Gel

Gels are a good way to enhance a photo. I attached a red gel to my SB800 and played around a little.  I tried highlighting the background, and highlighting the model as well.  [swfobj src=”https://barrycainphotography.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/0089-5×7-copy.swf”]

Hair highlighting worked the best.

One Light

[swfobj src=”https://barrycainphotography.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/onelight.swf” align=”center” allowfullscreen=”true”]

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.  I was messing around with my Lastolight EZYbox and an SB900.  I also had an SB800, some reflectors and gels.  While using more than one light gave me some interesting effects, this is the shot that worked.   Yes, the hair could be highlighted a bit more but I guess it’s the models expression that was the best in the bunch.  All the cool lighting in the world isn’t worth it if the model doesn’t look great.
